Gabriel Machuret

Meet Gabriel Machuret, founder of Marine Lithium Batteries Australia and YouSail, and learn why he built an independent Australian marine power guide.

I'm Gabriel Machuret, the founder of Marine Lithium Batteries Australia and YouSail.

My background is marketing. I've spent more than a decade in SEO and app store optimisation, and I was one of the first people to treat ASO as its own discipline. In 2013 I launched the first ASO course on Udemy, then wrote one of the first books on the subject, The ASO Bible, followed by ASO Ninja. More than 10,000 students have been through my courses.

Along the way I ran a marketing agency and worked with companies including Red Bull, Disney, EA Games, FreshBooks, PBS and Xerox. I've helped more than 500 developers and app companies get found, and spoken at conferences in London, Singapore, China and Thailand. I also bought an ASO company, Appmind, which was later acquired by Mobile Action, where I stayed on as a consultant and ambassador.

Not everything I write is about marketing. Zero Excuses is my book on how to live a beautiful life. The Lazy Bastard is a productivity guide for procrastinators.

I also have a habit: I build websites around the life I want to live. When I worked as a diving instructor, I built diving websites. Now it's sailing.

Why I built Marine Lithium Batteries Australia

My partner Kristy and I are working towards buying a yacht, moving aboard and sailing Australia and the Pacific. Plan a life aboard and one question turns up fast: how do you power it?

Battery advice was scattered across manufacturer brochures, retailer pages, forums, videos, standards references and long arguments between boat owners. The same amp-hour number could describe completely different systems. Important questions about alternator protection, solar yield, BMS shutdown, Australian requirements and total installation cost were often missing.

So I did what I know how to do. I collected the questions, organised the information and built the guide I wanted to use while planning our own future boat.

That became Marine Lithium Batteries Australia. It sits alongside YouSail and the rest of our sailing network: Sailing Schools, Sailing Courses, Sailing Clubs, Top Marinas, Top Charters and Buy Sails.

What I am—and what I am not

I'm not a marine electrician, and I'm not an expert sailor. I have not installed or physically tested every battery described on this site. What I'm good at is finding information, identifying the questions that matter and making complicated subjects easier to use.

That limit shapes the editorial rules. Manufacturer claims remain labelled as manufacturer claims. A product is not called tested unless it has actually been tested. Price pages stay unpublished until they have real dated Australian data. Safety-critical guidance points readers back to current authority material, equipment manuals and competent professionals.

The objective is not to replace a vessel inspection or professional design. It is to help an owner understand the system well enough to ask better questions of a marine electrician, surveyor, insurer, supplier or manufacturer.

You can read the site's editorial policy, battery testing methodology and Australian authority sources.

Say hello

Moving onto a yacht is me running out of excuses.

I'm based in Merimbula, on the NSW South Coast. If you work with marine electrical systems, represent a marine brand, own a boat with a documented lithium installation or just want to talk boats, email me at gabriel@yousail.com.au.
