Australian and New Zealand standards
- Standards Australia Store — search for the current status and available amendments of AS/NZS 3004.2, Electrical installations—Marinas and boats, Part 2: Boat installations. Standards are copyright publications and may require purchase or licensed access.
Do not rely on an unattributed copy of a standard found elsewhere. Confirm the designation, edition, amendments and whether another document has superseded it.
Lithium battery product safety
- ACCC Product Safety: lithium-ion batteries guide — official Australian consumer guidance on selecting, charging, storing, inspecting and disposing of lithium-ion battery products.
- ACCC and CSIRO lithium-ion battery safety report — expert background on failure modes, battery management and risk controls. Its scope is broader than installed marine LiFePO4 systems.
Recycling and end of life
- B-cycle — Australia’s official battery stewardship scheme, including accredited drop-off information. Contact a facility before transporting a damaged or large-format marine battery because ordinary collection points may not accept it.
International maritime technical background
- DNV: technical reference for lithium-ion battery explosion risk and fire suppression — a detailed maritime-industry reference for understanding propagation, gas and fire-suppression questions in larger vessel installations. Classification guidance does not replace the rules applicable to an Australian recreational or domestic commercial vessel.
- DNV: batteries for maritime applications — research background on monitoring available energy and state of health in safety-dependent marine battery systems.
